What is your greatest Back Bay moment?
I have two as a player and one as a coach. Scoring from the back of our scrum as number 8 40 meters out. Dummying the scrumhalf and scoring against OMBAC. Breaking a Santa Monica player ribs, I think 4 if remember. He deserved it. As a coach, going back to back seasons and being undefeated.
James spent 16 years with Back Bay as a player, coach and administrator. As a player Fonda was known for his aggressive style and no mercy attitude, if you were wearing a different jersey you were his enemy. His style of play carried over to his coaching with University of California Irvine and eventually with Back Bay. He was an assistant coach on the 2009 Division II Southern California Championship and coached the 2nd side to two undefeated seasons (2008-2009) and promotion to the first division. As an Administrator, James held many titles with the club and helped with many fundraising events including golf tournaments. Even though James is back in Northern California, he will forever be a Back Bay Shark and hope for his return soon.
